Vineyard Designate Clients
When you see "Sangiacomo Vineyards" on a wine label it means, in the eyes of the winemaker, the stars were in alignment. It means the growing season was temperate and steady. It means the vines were kept in balance and the grapes were harvested at just the right moment. It means the winemaker got exactly what he wanted from us, from Nature, and from his winemaking.
Why don't you see our name on all of our clients' wines? Several reasons. For one thing, vineyard designated wines - focused as they are on specific and distinctive blocks - are necessarily limited in production. After all, there can only be so many special places where magic occurs.
Other reasons relate to the business decisions our clients make about their wine portfolios. Some choose to blend wines from multiple sources that reflect a "regional" style. Others choose to make wines that reflect the "somewhereness" of a specific site. More often than not, their portfolios reflect a combination of both.
